Rising Stars Crowned in Jaipur
Young players had a great time in the County Sports Academy District Open Badminton Tournament at the Padukone School of Badminton in Jaipur. In the boys’ singles categories of both the U-15 and U-17 age groups, Harman Pandit excelled, demonstrating his adaptability and the in-court confidence of a mature player. Aradhya Dhingra was outstanding in her events as well—she not only won the U-13 girls & singles title but also got the first place in the U-15 event in addition to that. Moreover, Lakshit Rewar not only won the U-9 boys division but also placed on the podium twice more in the U-11 and U-13 categories as runner-up.
The tournament was not just about winning medals. Each winner was given a chance to train at the prestigious Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru for free—an offer that will mainly build up their careers. Senior IAS officer Ravi Jain had also come to give the awards along with former national player Manish Coudhary. Their presence during the ceremony was another feather in the cap of this tournament, emphasizing its pledge to raise young talent.
Indian Duo Shines in Nigeria
On another upbeat note of Indian badminton, Ishaan Bhatnagar and his partner Aradhana Balachandra fetched a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event at the Lagos International Classics 2025 in Nigeria. The couple was brilliant in the quarterfinals, and they beat the Philippines–Nigeria team consisting of Obiegue Solomon and Michelle Musa 21-7, 21-10 without giving them much chance.
It was a very close semifinal against the skilled team of Bimo Prasetyo and Arlya Nabila Thesya Munggaran from Indonesia, where the Indian duo had their way in the first game 25-23 but were overpowered in the next two 13-21, 17-21. They, however, exhibited enough stamina and team spirit to claim the bronze medal.
Why These Developments Matter
Their story is the tale of badminton in India today—from young juniors getting national recognition to Indian shuttlers succeeding abroad—that clearly shows the depth and richness of Indian badminton. Grassroots tournaments such as the County Open are essential for scouting future stars, while winning medals overseas is a clear indicator of the strong prospects for global triumph.
